What is the Pickle-Power-Popper-Pause?

The Pickle-Power-Popper-Pause is a simple, yet powerful CBT based coping strategy to help children learn self-regulation. This tool teaches children to calm their bodies, separate from intense emotions, and tap into their imagination to manage big feelings and life challenges.

 

How Does the Pickle-Power-Popper-Pause Work?

The Pickle-Power-Popper-Pause is all about recognizing big feelings and taking a moment to pause and think things through. Kids love the tongue twisting catch phrase, making it easy to remember when they need it.

 

The Pickle-Power-Popper-Pause involves three steps:

  1. We take a slow deep breath.

  2.  We gently close our eyes.

  3.  We picture Popper and his pals,

To see what they might do.

Then we can find more helpful ways

To think about things too.
